How to stop the War In Iraq?

While there’s a history of violence between Sunni and Shia groups, there were periods where they lived peacefully together for centuries. Today’s fighting in Iraq stems from a political power struggle. The expulsions appeared to be part of a plan to create a Sunni-dominated territory from the Syrian border to Baghdad’s edge.
Today, ISIS(Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) militants from neighboring Syria have crossed the border into Iraq and have taken advantage of the discontent among the nation’s Sunni population. Even before U.S. troops left Iraq for good at the end of 2011, a merciless Sunni insurgency was pounding the country with car bombs, roadside explosions, suicide bombings and drive-by assassinations, mainly targeting the Shia government, its security forces and Shiite pilgrims. Since the start of this year, and peaking this month, ISIS has overtaken several cities in Iraq's west and north, and over the past weekend was controlling several main border crossings between Iraq and Syria.
Sunni Muslim allies seized large parts of Iraq this month. Iraq has been receiving support from Iran, with whom its Shia Muslim leaders have close links.
The difference this time around is the lack of a U.S. military presence. At the time, when Iraq spiraled toward a sectarian civil war, U.S.-led troops fought both Sunni and Shiite extremists, eventually brokering an uneasy peace until foreign troops withdrew in 2011.
The Islamic State fighters consider Shiites to be heretics, and proudly post images of them being killed often for no reason other than their beliefs.
No country is safe from that kind of spread of terror, and none of us can afford to leave that entity with a safe haven which would become a base for terror against anyone and all, not only in the region but outside of the region as well.
What is now essential is the creation of a government in Iraq that includes all regions and all religions
