The Minimum Wage: is It Employers or Employees Right?

The minimum wage is the lowest amount, per hour, that employees must be paid by their employers. Rate of minimum wages are fixed by the state government and the labour courts/industrial tribunals depending on the circumstances in the state.
India introduced the Minimum Wages Act in 1948. This act is legally non-binding, but statutory. The Labour Department decides to make revisions in minimum wage rates mandatory within 3 years.
